Submissions

The Columbus Scribbler is open to publishing work from all cartoonists and comic-makers living in and around the Columbus area.

What Are We Looking For?

The Scribbler is an all-ages publication. We welcome any and all genres such as auto-bio, superhero, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. Material should be PG-Rated, so please no swearing, graphic violence, drug use, or sexual content. Overly political subjects should also be avoided. Comics do not have to be about/set in Columbus, but bonus points if they do!

Comic Specs & Sizes

  • Full Page (10.5” x 16.5”), Half Page (10.5” x 7.75”), Comic Strip (6” x 2.8”)
  • All comics run in black & white (greyscale).
  • We recommend all comics be at least 300 dpi.
  • Final files should be sent as either flattened files (such as a jpeg or tiff) or a high-quality pdf.

Do You Pay?

YES! Compensation varies based on whether you’re submitting a that you pitched us or submitting a comic to us that you already have made and are reformatting to work in the paper.

Pitched Comics

For comics that are pitched to us, we are paying:

  • $75 for a full page
  • $35 for a half page

Pre-made/Reformatted Comics

For comics that you have previously made and/or are reformatting to work in the paper, we are paying:

  • $40 for a full page
  • $20 for a half page
  • $5 for a strip

How to Submit

We would love to showcase everyone’s work, however, we have a limited amount of space per issue.

Pitch a Story

When pitching an idea, please remember to include a written description and layout of your comic for us to review. Layouts are highly suggested, this allows us to better understand what you’re trying to create.

Must be 18 years or older to submit. All creators under the age of 18 are welcome to submit to our Kid’s Korner section.
